As you know gentlemen, I've acquired a fine paddle
wheeled river steamer. What she requires now is a
name worthy of her. I'd like to hear your suggestions!

I've always wanted to use this one: HMS Ulysses

In keeping it classical: HMS Hermes: Hermes, the herald of the Olympian gods, is son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, daughter of Atlas and one of the Pleiades. Hermes is also the god of shepherds, land travel, merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves, and known for his cunning and shrewdness. He was also a minor patron of poetry. He was worshiped throughout Greece especially in Arcadia.

HMS Basilisk: The mythical king of the serpents. In keeping with the current theme ;-)

HMS Elizabeth (The Bess)

CHARYBDIS and SCYLLA were both sea monsters of greek mythology who promised death to those who strayed too near. Both names were used historically by the Royal Navy too. Of course HMS White Wine Sauce sounds pretty good too!

***It was a good one!

And the launch's name is quite an Honour Sir!

***This whole expedition was your brainchild, only fitting really.
