The Mad Emir's New Mercenaries

The Mad Emir of El Shakoosh Kabir (deuced more dangerous as he was educated at Eton) has recruited a new mercenary Camel corps of very vicious warriors of unknown origin. In Italian reports one of their cavalry squadrons was all but wiped out by these horrid louts. It was even discovered by a relief force that all the horses were slain and several of those apparently cooked and eaten! The lone survivor of this attack a Cpl dispatched by his commander to report on the attack said that he saw these attackers hit several times at close range by rifle fire with no apparent effect! It has also been rumored that these mercenaries have been seen in other regions of Kookanyika and are responsible for several native massacres, even the destruction of a formidable Wazulu war party. There is no exact knowledge of their numbers but it seems to be no more than 60 odd, but there may be more. This constitutes a major provocation on the part of the Emir , and the colonial powers are expected to respond forcefully soon...

British ,French and Italian Attack On Slavers

British planed slavery suppression raid wins
the grudging support from both France and
Italy. The French and Italian governments
have sent word to their respective colonial
governors to render what ever support is
required to take the slaver stronghold of
El Shakoosh Kabir and the other fortresses
further to the north. The aim is to brake the
slaver's power once and for all.

Russians Are Coming....

The forces of the Tsar have made landings on two islands
in the north west. There has been no word at all from the
Russian government, in fact when asked the reply was,
"islands, what islands?" The Russian ambassador in London
was typically tight lipped about the whole affair.

Kaiser's Scientific Field Trip

His Highness the Kaiser has heard that there are many interesting
scientific discoveries to be made on the Island of Kookanyika. With
the Kaiser's well known love and interest in both archeology and
zoology it is his pleasure to send a well financed and equipped
expedition to the large bay east of the Italian colony . There will
also be several lesser landings to this scientific expedition to further
facilitate the cataloging of discoveries......

Ports And Landing Areas

I'm hearing rumors that there may be fleets about.
So I thought it best to show where one might land.
These areas are highlighted with a light blue circle.

Political Map Of Kookanyika

As promised here is the political map with
the main populations listed. Most are biased
on actual peoples others are amalgams from
books and films.

Topographical Map Of Kookanyika

I'd thought I'd flesh out the topographical
map of Kookanyika just a bit. Being a
fantasy I had the advantage of making the
land fit the population (owned miniatures)
and not the other (normal) way round!
The red-brown are desert areas where my
Arab-Berber-Turk and other desert
dwellers hang out.The dark green areas are
heavily forested or jungles, here you'll find
head hunters, pygmies, really nasty plants
etc. The lighter green are grasslands where
you'll find large animals and various tribes
somewhat like the Zulu and Maasai etc.

Kookanyika Campaign

Well I hope your all are enjoying my little
dino hunt thus far, I know I am. With that
I realized I never gave the bloody place
(the Island) a name! It will hence forth
be known as the Kookanyika Campaign,
I think it fits. The inspiration in large part for
this dino-hunt turned campaign was due in
no small part to the works of others and
Tom Brown's Africa Days was no small

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY!

British Plans Revealed!

As it turns out American Naval Intelligence had
it half right, the British naval flotilla that set sail
from Singapore was a diversion. The actual fleet
has set sail from India weeks before. Sir Paul's
party made it's way to the highest peak in the
area to signal the fleet. The Royal Marines mean
while occupied a small island off the cost and
set up it's own heliograph. The preparations
for this were done many months in advance by
Sir David Donaldson, who scouted out this area
and staged his own party's death and was picked
up by the navy on the coast. Agreements were
reached with the Zumarrie king by Sir David and
finalized by Sir Paul. The Treaty of Friendship
declares that Her Majesty's forces will come to
the aid of the Zumarrie in the face of any attack,
and will furthermore drive the slavers out of their
stronghold and secure and guarantee the integrity
of the Zumarrie kingdom. In return the treaty states
that all non Zumarrie territory will fall under the
protection of Her Majesty's forces and all Zumarrie
territory and citizens will be returned to the
Zumarrie kingdom. Her Majesty's government
will also provide arms and training to the forces
of the Zumarrie kingdom.

US Naval Intelligence Analysis:

It has long been known that the British have
wanted a presence on these strategically
important islands. They are rumored to be
quite rich in minerals and other recourses.
Although the French and Italians have
occupied
the south eastern portion of the
main island they have not moved north or
to the west at all, nor have they made any
movement to the smaller islands to the north
or west. The British see this as an opportunity,
and may use the routing of pirates and slavers
in the area as a pretext for occupation.
It has also been reported that a large English
naval flotilla has set sail from Singapore over
a week ago. heading unknown.

US Naval Intelligence Operative (Pescivendolo)
Noted British adventurer and big game hunter
Sir Paul, Grand Duke Tas of Menzies on the Minges
(also rumored to be a member of Her Majesty's
Secret Service) Set out for a big game hunt on
the western side of the main Island. He was to
cross into hostile Zumarrie territory. Although
the party is all in civilian attire by its actions
and orderliness it appeared to be military in
composition. It was well armed and was
equipped with a heliograph team, quite odd
equipment for a game hunt.....

It was intended to avoid contact with
the natives as much as possible. This
was not possible as it turned out as
Zumarrie scouts were watching the party's
progress up the river since it started.
Fortunately Sir Paul had a great deal
of experience in dealing with native
peoples in his travels (he won the die roll)
and had gift offerings for the king. The
scouts then honor bound, conducted
the party to the royal village. Sir Paul
explained his desire to bag one of the
legendary great saber tooth cats. The
king not only agreed to provide guides
but was very grateful as one of these had
taken many cattle and more than a few
people. The King said he would host a
great celebration on the party's return....

Bills Big Hunt

I'll be carrying the Remington Dino Slayer Mk II
as my primary weapon.

My trusty Grordbort ManMelter 3600ZX will as
always be at my side.

Along with my ever present Bowie Knife

and of course my flask of good ole Kentucky
sipping whiskey (carried for purely medicinal
and antiseptic reasons you understand).
I choose to be well equipped for this outing!
