GRIZZLY BEARS FOUND IN AFRICA
THE QUITE LARGE PUSH

Following the set backs suffered by the invading Prussian forces, both
sides had regrouped and a strong advance towards the northern industrial
cities was expected. With the shipyards of Newcastle & Sunderland
besieged by the enemy an advance to similarly cut off Middlesbrough
and the air-ship factories was imminent.

The Defense Of Melbourne
26 January 2009 - Colonial participation game at CanCon
(Canberra, Australia) wins 'best participation game' of
convention. Depicting the feared Russian invasion of Australia,
and generously supported by Askari Miniatures who donated
figures to promote the game, the guys involved have done a
fantastic job! You can see the photos and read more at the
Defense of Melbourne blog.

Return To Sinkiang

The Bolsheviks had decided to cross the monutains and head
into the Chinese province of Sinkiang nominally to pursue White
Russian forces but in essence to destroy any Chinese warlords
in the area and increase Russian influence in the region.

Unaguafria - 1879
This is a fictional scenario where British relief troops are swarmed
by Zulu warriors. The rules we used are Damned Human Race-
express (DHR-e), which is similar to Gabriel Landowski's "Damned
Human Race"(DHR) - a type of mob-skirmish game that's far more
"granular" than Larry Brom's The Sword & The Flame (TSATF).
DHR-e is variant to DHR and is currently scenario specific (only).
In other words, I don't claim it's a set of core-rules at this point (not
yet, but that's my objective). For now, the only testing ground has
been this one scenario, "Unaguafria." I've run the scenario about
8 to 12 times; this includes M-Con and Owl-Con. I keep tweaking
the rules after each game, but have not made the desired changes
after the last game (Feb 22nd).

The City Of The Skulls

Binky called a council of war. With Gerald still suffering from
the effects of being almost drowned he did not attend, Hassan
was present in his place. That left Binky slightly outnumbered
by the more warlike and direct Adrian and Piet. Though Piet,
the newest member, had yet to be fully accepted into the
decision making. In a short discussion two main options were
discussed - Continue on the river to Sakati or travel cross
country.
The Rapids

The party has breakfasted, somewhat later than expected,
after the action at the River Gate, and after a short rest has
sailed on. Not far down river a native canoe with two
fishermen in it is encountered and they offer to sell fish to
the party. During the negotiations the Princess Gizitoomi is
recognised by her royal medallion and the fishermen
immediately fall face down expressing their undying loyalty.

Search For The Lost Lamb

This was our third game for the year 2009. We played this
at The Dragons's Lair in Pearl Mississippi on January 31st.
Our rules were The Sword and the Flame by former Jackson
Gamer Larry Brom. This is the third and final game of a trio
of games, all using the same rules and all set in the 1885-9 (or
so) period when the British and Egyptians were attempting to
reclaim areas that had fallen to the followers of the Mahdi a
prophet of the Muslim Religion who preached rebellion against
the Egyptian government.

Hostiles In Sight

The aftermath of the 9th Cavalry's charge with wounded left
lying under the bows of the Indians, who are whooping it up
on the hillside. For some reason they decided not to come down
to capture the wounded "Buffalo soldiers."This was during our
game Hostiles in Sight played on February 7, 2009 at THE
CHINA INN Restaurant in Pearl Mississippi.

Old School Wargamer Library

From: Col. Campbell's Barracks:
In a previous post, I described getting Wargame Tactics by
Charles Grant as a late Christmas present (thanks to an Amazon
gift certificate). So I decided to determine what books I had in
my personal library that might qualify as "Old School" wargames
books. I've come up with at least these six.
