Earthmen On Mars!

Since my free trial of both PhotoShop and Paintshop Pro have run out, I have to take a short break from *Rough Riders On Mars!* for a bit (until I can buy one of them). So I'll take this time to post some pictures of the Earthlings that will be used for my *Edison's Conquest Of Mars! *games. These are 15mm figures of my own design (except for British 9pdr which is Minifig and the US and French guns that were designed by Richard Huston). *Edison's Conquest Of Mars! *allows for a wide variety of nationalities, however, at this time I have only French, German, British, and American uni...

Invaders: When the Navy Walked

The Invaders came from outside the Earth. They came at first in cylinders that slammed into the rural areas around England, Austria, Spain and the United States. Quickly following the cylinders however were saucers manned by the Grays. The Overlords soon began assembling their tripod fighting machines and there was war that spanned the planet. This war was different for the Great Powers because the war was not for territory or resources but for the very survival of the human race.
***************************************************
And for one very brief shining moment mankind over game it's differences to unite ageist a common foe. Combined armies of the great powers and minor nations manned the barricades, erstwhile blood enemies counter attacked all over the globe. British Indian forces with Pathan support ambushed an enemy force in the Khyber Pass. Russian and Japanese forces took heavy losses but over came the enemy on the Kamchatka Peninsula. American, French, and British fleets inflected a severe defeat on the enemy off the coast of Cuba. Turkish and Persian forces drove the invaders out of Basra.
***************************************************
The best minds that mankind could produce met in secret in a basement of a destroyed building
in Zurich Switzerland, with prize pieces of captured alien technology. From this meeting and others around the world new weapons were fashioned to carry the fight to the enemy. Nor was this humanities only hope for in this crisis many otherwise unknown and untried inventors came to the fore. One young inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer named Nikola Tesla perfected his electrical death ray that disrupted the Grays saucers as well as the mind link that the Masters used to coordinate their attacks.

The tables had at long last began to turn....

A Father/Son Consultation

I have always been interested in playing games with toy-soldiers, and started doing it 'properly' with rules and such (wargaming) when I was about 10 or 11. However I was too young to join our local wargames club. My dad was less interested in the games, but did have an interest in military history, so joined up so that I could go along with him. Of course he became as active a member as I (in fact more so), and we both wargame regularly. So I have him to thank for allowing me to pursue my hobby and he has me to thank for introducing him to a new one :-)

GURPS Steampunk

GURPS Steampunk won the Origins Award for Best RPG Supplement of 2000. Then it sold out! Now it's back in print in a new deluxe hardcover edition with the same great full-color cover art. Written by William H. Stoddard, this book combines the mood of cyberpunk with the setting of an alternate Industrial Age, where computers run on steam power, walking colossi stalk the battlefields, flying ironclads rule the skies, and science is the new frontier. It covers the real events, politics, and personalities of the Industrial Age, as well as the weird science that could have been created... vehicles, robots, airships, and more.

And Now For Something Completely Different

Excerpt from the journal of Col William Somersby-Smyth
Royal Marines, found in the destroyed British embassy
Syris Major.
**********************************************
Our armies were at long last victorious in driving back
the threat from evil the Cephalods. We'd gone on to
pacify allot of the Imperial Martian cities and have
made trade deals with most of the others. It looked
as if we were at the dawn of a new Raj. Then one
dark night reports reached us of a powerful new enemy.
Incredibly they arrived in a planet that came moving on
it's own through out system and taking up its own orbit
in-between Earth and Mars! Then fantastic weapons
even by the standards we have come to know attacked
all in their path. Our Æther ships fought valiantly
against the small but incredibly swift and powerful craft
of this new enemy. Hordes of enemy ground troops
of inconceivable description some that could even
fly, attacked our forces, and drove all before them.
There is still hope with th.........................pages burned

Pirates of Venus

http://www.piratesofvenusmovie.com/index.html

Love Forbidden. Life Unending. Danger Eternal.

Plot: After the carnage of World War 1, flying Ace Carson Napier
had given up on life and the "civilized" world. At the lowest point in
his life, Carson's fortune changes as he inherits the expansive estate
of his lost Grandfather.Fate leads him to decide if he should risk his
life and follow his Grandfather to a distant world aboard an aged craft
built by the old Man. A beautiful alien princess in need of his help
gives him a new purpose in life within the dense jungles of Venus.

Pirates of Venus is book one of the five book "Venus" series written
by Edgar Rice Burroughs and is presented with the same flair for
adventure, excitement and imagination as of his best seller
"Tarzan."

Having seen this over at "Yours in a White Wine Sauce! " and
never having had the time to read the book. I decided to look
it up and was lucky enough to find it on line!

Something New : Iron Stars

Iron Stars is a game of space combat in an age of steam and steel. Set in a fictional universe based loosely on the writings of H. G. Wells and other fantasists, it provides a back story and ship designs from an alternate history in which the Martian Invasion actually happened, the ether is all-pervasive, and Cavorite is a reality. But, as with Starmada and other Majestic Twelve Games products, the focus is on players' imaginations; a clear and concise ship construction system is provided so you can pit your own space dreadnoughts against the likes of the Royal Navy Ether Squadron or the German Äthermarine.

The British and Russians have finally been joined by a new space fleet, the Austrian KUK Sternmarine. We also have stocks of the first two Iron Stars supplements, The Merchant War and The Southern Front which both extend the timeline and introduce new fleets and rules.
